The Esplanade Centre, Esplanade, Cairns
Open for lunch and dinner, The Raw Prawn seafood restaurant truly is a Cairns dining experience that will spoil all the senses.
Thats the view from the street. DH and I have an early dinner at The Raw Prawn earlier this year. I'd heard about it from The Canberra Cook and thought we'd give it a go.
After an entree of very nice, FRESH garlic bread (so good forgot to take a photo!) we ordered our mains...
I went with the Raw Prawn 5-in-1 -
Barramundi, prawns, moreton bay bug, calamari,
soft shell crab, seasonal fruit & chips. The fruit was like having a mini dessert! I did regret everything being deep fried but it was just so delish!!! The chips were fat and the salad's dressing not to heavy.
DH went for the Roo Surf and Turf - topped w grilled bay bug tail & prawns in garlic butter,
served with sweet potato mash, bok choy, rosella chutney & red papaya jam.
Sure the meals were expensive, but HUGE, so we should have really shared an entree and main.
Taste/Quality: As I said, great. Fresh, quick and the menu was huge with lots and lots of choice.
Cost: $18-50 for mains. They do have good lunch specials
Verdict: I'd love to go again, if only to explore some of the other options. Probably go at lunch to save some money though.
